Steelers suffer a heart-breaking loss against Telugu Titans

In the last match of the inter-zone challenge week, Haryana Steelers lost to Telugu Titans 31-35 in a thrilling encounter with the Steelers having a chance to tie it in the last raid but failed to catch the opposition raider. Monu Goyat continued his brilliant form scoring 12 points on the night.

It was an even start as points were exchanged in both sides of the mat. After the early minutes, Telugu Titans gifted a couple of points by the virtue of self-outs. Vikash the most active of the raiders, collecting a series of touch and bonus points, but the Telugu Titans’ defense got their act together and with two Super Tackles, brought their team in the lead. The Steelers’ raiders failed to find their rhythm as Titans inflicted an All-out on the Dhaakad Boys. At half-time, the Steelers were trailing 13-20.

Monu Goyat had a perfect start with three raid points in his two successive raids. But the defense then leaked a few points to even the equation, Telugu Titans reacted and scored points frequently. The Dhaakad Boys failed to contain the Titans’ who kept gaining a healthy lead. But it was revival time, soon after a timeout, as Monu Goyat brought his A-game to the mat. He completed his Super 10 and brought the Steelers back in the game. It was neck-to-neck in the dying moments of the match. With the score reading 32-31, Nilesh Salunkhe came in for the last raid of the match, which was a do-or-die raid for the Telugu Titans, but the Haryana defense failed to hold and the match ended in a heart-breaking loss, 35-31.

Steelers will now face Gujarat Fortune Giants in their next game on 12th of December at the same venue.
